§ 8. Referendum—Petition; effect.

The referendum petition shall conform to the provisions of Section 2 herein, and be certified by the City Clerk to the City Council as provided in Section 3 hereof.

If a referendum petition is found sufficient and so certified to the City Council, the said ordinance shall thereupon be suspended from going into operation; or further action thereunder shall be suspended if it shall have gone into effect until and unless approved by the electors as herein provided.
